Case Study 1
The Situation
Grieving the death of his child and having almost lost his wife due to illness, JM was struggling with deep depression and suicidal thoughts. He had withdrawn from life. Home no longer felt like home, he’d become distant from his family and avoided social interaction. Work felt like a burden and he was unable to communicate his feelings.
The Coaching
I worked with JM to uncover the heart of the issue – suppressing his feelings. Coaching enabled us to identify the key event that triggered this. We explored the emotions around the key event and discovered that his fear of loss showed up as anger.

The breakthrough: I knew we had to physically take this work outside – to the place where JM felt happiest – his garden. I used the timeline of fear once more, but this time in the garden. With each step moving him closer to his house, which represented his family and the present, I worked with JM to gift his younger self with ‘tools’ to help him through the painful events of his life. As he reached his patio door, he saw his wife and son waiting for him and realised that he had so much to be thankful for and so much wisdom and strength to offer his son. He was able to see how his innate gifts could help him now in the present.
The Conclusion
The process of coaching was transformational and healing for JM. It enabled him to express emotions that had been suppressed for a long time. He has discovered his strength and resilience and he is now finally in a positive place of gratitude and self-belief.

"I ve been seeing Dhara for around 4 – 5 months. I suffer from depression, suicidal thoughts and actions due to some horrible past events, the loss of our first son, my wife being very poorly & nearly losing her. These are just some of the events, but I never thought it would all affect me, being a strong person, but it did, and it was a dark place
I have been on anti-depressants for a while now… had no hope of coming off them. I didn’t really see a way back. I saw a lot of counsellors, and I didn’t feel any better, in fact, felt worst for it. I thought Dhara would be the same as all the rest of them. Boy was I wrong! She listens, actually pays attention to what my thoughts are, my actions… My responses to her questions helped me understand the “why”. It’s difficult to put into words the impact she has had on me.
It’s taken a little while for me to get to grips with it all, but I’ll tell you what – from 100mg of Sertraline, to 75mg and now 50mg – I never thought I’d see the day of me coming off anti-depressants!
Depression is real, but you can overcome it with the right help, and honestly, Dhara Shah, I’ve nearly got my life back! Thank you. What a person!"
Case Study 2
The Situation
SW was struggling to be assertive in making good decisions for his own health and wellbeing. He felt influenced by his peers and his choices reflected this. He noticed this mostly in social environments where drinking was involved. He felt he was not able to set and keep to limits, which meant consuming more alcohol than he would have liked.
The Coaching
I worked with SW to investigate the root of the issue. To his surprise, this was not the ‘alcohol problem’ he feared, but actually to do with not trusting his ‘gut’ or ‘instincts’ and therefore not having the courage and conviction to make decisions based on this.
Coaching enabled us to identify moments in his past when he’d felt strong, empowered and in control of his own health and when he’d felt proud of who he was. I worked with SW to anchor in those powerful moments and emotions, so that he had access to them whenever he needed to experience his strength. In practicing this tool, SW was able to be more in control.
The breakthrough happened when he went out for drinks with friends. Whereas before, SW would have consumed too much alcohol in line with the group and against his better judgement, this time he used his anchor and ordered a soft drink without hesitation. He felt totally comfortable with doing this regardless of what his friends had ordered. This was a turning point for SW in making and ‘owning’ his choices.
The Conclusion
SW learned to listen to, trust and act upon his intuition. The coaching process also enabled SW to apply the tools he learned to other parts of his life. He now feels stronger and healthier and has gone from feeling pressured and influenced by other peoples’ choices to a feeling empowered to make his own decisions.

A massive thank you for your helping me with something I have had a mind block with. I was sceptical with this kind of stuff to be honest, but your calm and collective manner gave me the confidence to approach you and I’m glad I did. We met, and straight away I felt relaxed in discussing the issue. You were brilliant, you understood, spoke to me in a way that I actually understood and reassured me that it wasn’t such a major issue. You gave me the tools to put into place when certain situations arose. I was soon put into such a situation, I tried the technique and it worked! Yes, it was hard to do but the inner strength that you gave me made me actually achieve my goal. I practice this every day and night and have achieved what I want in several situations. Thank you so much!
